Finally...

As you may have heard, 1 post ago, I've been hunting for unprinted designs in contests that deserve votes. I found one! It's on Shirt.Woot!'s derby. I was going to wait until further in to the week to make any calls on a good design, but I believe I have found it. Some may come up later. I'll keep you posted. This one needs recognition NOW!

BootsBoots is an incredibly talented artist, and, if you follow these online contests as much as I do, you've definitely seen her work. I love her deeper illustrations, the ones that really tug at your heartstrings. This latest one "Don't Look Back, I've Got You" is definitely one of those, and it is beautiful.
The colours she chose are perfect. They really set the mood, and I find them to be the most effective part of the design. The extreme perspective makes the whole image seem more dynamic and emotional. The placement and size are different than I would have expected from the image itself. I honestly picture it, and may have preferred it, smaller on the shirt. However, the way she made the sky almost looks like the robot is coming out of frame, and that works very well, possibly more so on this scale. I like how she gave a close-up of the girl's face. The details are what really draws me in on the more colourful prints. The way the skyline is made from tear shapes is just... I can't think of any better, more specific adjectives than "amazing".
Overall I love it. Very much so. I'm not a big fan of robots, so I wasn't expecting to find anything great out of the current derby. A lot of the works are really good for what they are, and I think that's because this theme cut out the possibility of overly cutesy characters. Though, this one is exceptional, and it's the only one I've voted for so far. There is one other I saw in the pre-Derby thread that I liked, but this one beat it to the punch, and I like the style more. I so hope this gets printed. Somehow. If you have a soul you will vote for this.
